Sororities began as a way for women to find intellectual and social companionship with one another, as college campuses at the time were dominated by men and many female students felt isolated. The Step-Up Sorority is an homage to these societies.

The first secret society for women was founded in 1851: the Adelphean Society (now called Alpha Delta Pi). However, most importantly, the first sorority for Black women did not come about until much later. Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded at Howard University in 1908.

And now onto another 'first' in the present day: We now have The Step-Up Sorority to allow young British women to enjoy that same sense of sisterhood, but also leverage a network that will propel them into their futures successfully and with the sisterly support they need.
