One thing about me: I like justice! I like things to be fair. And as I progressed through university into my current career in the beauty industry, a disparity became more and more apparent: girls that look like me have fewer connections, less support and less self-belief than their peers from other races.
— Daisy Boateng, Founder & CEO - The Step-Up Sorority

These are facts. 73% of BAME women feel apprehensive about their futures due to lack of resource. I had a longstanding urge to bridge that gap. After 10 years of working within the #1 beauty company in the world, L’Oréal, and meeting various influencers, businesswomen & thought-leaders, I wanted to give my fellow sisters these invaluable connections to equip them with the keys to the industry of their dreams! That’s why The Step-Up Sorority was created.

Daisy Boateng studied Fashion Promotion at the University for the Creative Arts, Epsom after realising she didn’t have enough patience for pattern cutting to be a fashion designer! During her studies, she found her passion in branding and marketing and undertook an internship every summer to gain experience, working at Burberry, Anya Hindmarch, Liberty of London and Asprey.

After her studies, she pinpointed only 3 companies at the pinnacle of marketing that she dreamed of working for, and made a beeline for them. They were Disney, Apple and L’Oreal. After sending through a personalised CV and case study, she was invited for an interview at L’Oreal and was offered an internship in Marketing. She then progressed through the group all the way to her current position as Global Marketing Director, having worked in L’Oreal in London, Melbourne, Paris and currently New York.

After a truly global and multi-disciplinary career, Daisy has a wealth of knowledge to share on how to progress in and out of the corporate world, through passion, determination and effective networking. She brings this knowledge to The Step-Up Sorority.
